Luther Tai, a lawyer and engineer with more than 35 years of utility industry experience, is the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Shared Services for Consolidated Edison Company. In this capacity, he is in charge of operations for The Learning Center, Con Edison's corporate university. His responsibilities also include human resources, equal employment opportunity affairs, emergency management, security services, facilities, research and development, and shared services administration.
Dr. Tai serves on the board of Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, an organization that provides research funding for various academic disciplines. He is on the board of Stevens Institute of Technology's WebCampus, which offers a large variety of online graduate degree programs in engineering, and is also on the advisory board of the Executive Program in Work-Based Learning Leadership, a doctorate program for chief learning officers in corporations, at the University of Pennsylvania. Because much of the adult learning will be occurring in the workplace, this program will be a significant way to recognize the importance of corporate education. In addition, he is a member of the board of directors of the Regional Plan Association. He also serves on the board of Competitive Energy Businesses of Con Edison.
Dr. Tai is the author of Corporate E-Learning: An Inside View of IBM's Solutions published by the Oxford University Press. He has also been selected as a senior specialist in the Fulbright Scholar Program.
Dr. Tai holds a doctor of education degree from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.B.A. from Cornell, a J.D. from New York Law School, an M.S. in industrial engineering from Columbia University, and a B.S. in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
